FOAK!
Been to view a Blackbird this evening
41k miles, R plate
Item 180212862691
(ignore paint please)
Everything looked fine, till I took off the Oil cap
White emulsification, but only a little bit.
The bike had been stood for 6 months in a garage with a cover on it
but had been on a short run recently for the MOT
No sign on dipstick or in rad lid of anything wrong.
Been told it may just be condensation in the engine, the white blob on the
oil cap was about the size of half a pea with bubbles around it.
Everything else seems OK (except the price but I know that)
So, walk away? what tests can I do to confirm my concern?
TIA

I'd just walk away, purely on price. A 10 year-old leggy 'Bird, with the
nastiest paint job I've seen in years, and he wants £2.5k.

That's a sign of water in the oil, I'm sure you know that, could be
condensation or poss a cylinder head gasket.
I'd walk away.

Bollocks is it. Condensation, most likely, and not much of it at
that.

Oh, I'd still do that.

I can't think of *any* offer I'd make for the POS. It's just something
I'd not want to be seen riding, at any price.
Yes, I do have standards, you know.

Well exactly. Any big engine (or even small) that doesn't get well
warmed up will do that. Plenty of air-cooled bikes have white
emulsion in the oil sight glass

Given the other comments in this thread, I can hardly bring myself to
look.
<clicks>
<small voice> Actually, I think it looks alright.
Mind you, 2 anna half grand for a nearly 20 year old bike is having a
laugh.

It's better than I expected from the comments, and I've seen a lot
worse. But it doesn't suit the bike. >> Stay informed about: white gloop |

I know Hondas aren't your strong point but 1989 in the listing is a typo. R
reg apparently.
In 1989 the wank mags were glowing about the forthcoming ZZR1100...
