Post subject: small gixxer: price estimation and some answers needed
Archived from groups: alt>motorcycle>sportbike (more info?)

Hi,

a friend of mine is selling a small gixxer, 2001, no mods, 15K miles,
never dropped, first owner, ridden relatively soft with occasional
beating it up.

I also wonder what major technological changes the GSX-R600 has gone
since 2001 (I did my homework - did not find anything catching my eye).

Would default suspension would be good enough for 200lb rider? Or it is
still on the FZ-1 mediocrity level.

I always dreamed to have something small and screaming and eventually
replace my FZ-1 with more dual sport thing. You know - the second bike
syndrome is reaching me too Smile.

Also, the price: I did scan the craiglist and I was thinking of making
offer in the $ 2K7 -3K1 range.

Any insight?

thx, Andy

Andy, GSXR600's basically sucked until 2003 or after they got rid of
the boggle tail, wierd front look and added FI. YMMV.

I believe there were valve train issues exposed by Army of Darkness Racing
for that year too.
You can probably find some older roadracingworld articles.

My GSXR600 is a 2001 and is has FI.
But I haven't tracked in years. Still runs like a raped ape. It is a
600, though. You have to keep it on the pipe.
