The twisty roads in the south of France, Africa, Utah, along the
Colorado River, the west coast From Tihuana (sp?), Mexico to Alaska.
Ride up to Hudson's Bay to see the tundra, the people and the
Hydroelectric dam. Blueridge Parkway area (there are lots of nice side
roads I missed). The track at Laguna Seca. the mountains of Chile.
The Autobahn in Germany. Norway, Sweden and Finland (above the Arctic
circle too). The back roads in Japan too look nice (a la tokyo drift).
Gros Morne (again, but this time without fog & rain)

Did I miss anything?
Smile
Sean

p.s. I desperately need a tour bike

I've often thought that a year long ride would cary me through Canada
(from west to east) during the summer, down the east coast in the fall,
across the southern states in the winter and up from California in the
spring. If you did enough research, you could probably find thing to do
in each state/province to keep you bussy. The main concern would be the
budget. I know a couple that did it in two consecutive years with
motorcycle storage in Florida over the winter, and flights home to BC
and back. They had a great time.

Ride safe.

I'd like to do the Rockies and down the west coast. I would guess that a
trip to the Yukon or Alaska would be nice but not sure of the roads.

I went on a 1 month solo trip from home (Ottawa) to Utah in 2004 and the
scenery is magnificent. I did Gros Morne Nfld, and the coasts of NS,
NB,Gaspe this summer and it was nice.
I travelled the Blue Ridge Parkway but I was there on a long weekend for the
US. The overlooks were nice but it was a steady stream of slow traffic which
became frustrating after a day.

Some of the nicest rides that you can do in an hour or two are around
Eganville Ontario where I have a trailer in a park which we use as a cottage
in the summer . There are lots of hills with great panoramas and the little
backroads arc in pretty good shape.

I think you might need to get a airplane to cart you all over. Any bike
is going to wear out before you get done your tour. Might I suggest another
location for a motorcycle ride................the moon! I think it's the
only place not in your list Smile

I was considering the moon, but I don't really know to jet carbs for no
atmosphere.. Smile But the good thing is I would not need
earplugs...there is no sound on the moon. Smile

Actually on some of these trips it makes more sense to buy a bike when
you arrive at your chosen country. Ride your ride and sell it back to
the dealer at the end of the trip. Likely costs less than air freight.
Although I have never priced anything out, so I might be "talkin' out
my ass." Very Happy

I've thought about doing that. when I was single I figured I would
start going in a direction and go till I needed to stop for money. Get
a job of some description....mechanic, street sweeper whatever then
save the cash and move on. It would not be that hard at all. I am
sure that it could be done.
