Any Gotchas? 1999 FZR600 Carb Rebuild - All - I have a 1999 FZR600. I had back surgery and the bike sat for an extended period (stupid me, didn't drain it - I was down a lot longer than I expected to be). Even though I have dumped the fuel and run a couple of fresh tanks, it is running very.

In an effort to improve my son's bike performance, I changed the needle clip
position to the first position(leanest). The result was that the bike is
now running very close to the proper fuel/air mix (the plug is a very, very
light black with a tannish tint) and I've got a 65 main on order (stock is a
70 main) which should take care of that last little bit. The bike runs like
a scalded dog now (well, at least for a pw) on the top end. My problem is
that now the bike is very difficult to start. It seems to bog out after
firing and until you can get it to crank and rev it for a couple minutes, it
will hardly run. Any ideas on how to fix this? I know I've created the
problem with my change, since it would crank easily before I tweeked the
carb. Short of undoing what I've done (since it dramatically improved mid
and top end), any way to fix the starting problem? Thanks.

PS..My son is going to make my life very difficult until I get this
fixed...I cost him a win last night because his bike died and it took us
about a full minute to get it cranked Sad

Frustrated PW Dad

sounds like you may/will have to be doing something to the pilot air
circuit...
