I am looking to purchase a zx636 a1p model 2003 03 plate. It has 15K on
the clock. Should i be worried about the mileage it seems high when i
look at other bikes. Its up for 4200gbp. The bike is in vgc and will
come with 6months warranty.
What are your feelings on the mileage?

My 03 CBR600RR3 (March 2003) is now sitting at 11.5K, but I didn't ride
it very much over the last two winters.

I was considering selling my bike recently and it would have been a
*lot* less that £4.2 K but then I would have sold privately. Presumeably
this is a dealer who have to give you a warranty ?

On my bike there is a big service due at 16K (I'm assuming the Kawaski
is the same) so be aware that you'll almost be immediately forking out a
few hundred pounds on a service.

In terms of high mileage, I wouldn't be afraid of it as long as it has a
full service history. I'd expect a better price though, because, as you
pointed out, there are lots of bikes that never get ridden. It's also
the end of the season too.

To put it into perspective, if you can stretch another £800, you can
have a brand new 05 ZX636 for £4999 with 2 year manufacturers warranty.

price vs miles - Can anyone explain the price vs miles equation. On a CBR 600 with about 12k on the clock a £5k bike seems to depreciate at about £1 for every 2 miles, this would imply that the thing will be worthless after another 10K. I guess what I'm really asking is...
