Depends if it's an early one. They did have some well-documented
bottom end gremlins. Later ones were better. They're getting on a bit
now, so unless the one you're looking at is particularly nice and well-
cared for, I'd avoid. >> Stay informed about: How many miles in an XTZ 750? |

There is one here with 57,000 (it says).

Really? How bizarre. I'd have thought that was a French thing, where
everything has to be type approved and woe betide you if you derstrict
that strangled-to-100bhp superbike, mon vieux.
I'd have expected the Italians to be... well, a bit more laid-back. >> Stay informed about: How many miles in an XTZ 750? |

After experiencing their practical approach to traffic law (i.e., do
what you will so long as no-one gets hurt, apparently) my assumption
would be there's an official rule, and then there's what actually
happens, and there's normally only a faint correspondence betweeen
the two.
Italy is in my opinion one of the most petrol-head populated countries
in Europe- this lovely little Guzzi had pride of place in a nice
restaurant in Monza:

Probably costs a couple of lire extra.

I remember reading an article in one of Italian bike magazines
explaining what a supermoto was and why Italy would have to wait to
get them---apparently you're not allowed to roll your own supermoto.

I wonder how easy this engine swap is (TDM 900)

The website is in Czech and the web translator I found didn't help much.

An Italian chap of my acquaintance is in the process of doing exactly
such a swap ATM, if you're interested I can ask him how it's going.
Apparently one of the worst bits is getting the authorities to recognize
the swap, as the eyties are not keen on undocumented modifications.

Probably not too difficult, as the basic design is unchanged from
XTZ750, through TDM (and later TRX ) 850 to the current 900.

Hmm. And here's me thinking that these things are easier to get on the
road in the US.

I'm being curious, rather than interested if you see what I mean, but I
definitely wouldn't mind knowing how it went/goes. I think it wouldn't be a
bad idea for him to document the whole procedure and post it somewhere for
others to access actually.
As for the authorities, there's usually some way to bypass stupid
bureaucratic restrictions, but it's not always worth the effort.

I *like* mopeds, I have a Vespa Ciao in my garage at the moment.
