I've got an 82 Maxim XJ650 with some serious front end wobble between 40
and 30 MPH. Two years ago the head stem bearings needed to be adjusted
and repacked. I did that myself, and I'm wondering if I don't need to
do it again. When I did it originally, I just tightened the bearings up
like you would front end/spindle bearings on a car. Should I have
torqued it to some specific amount or is the procedure identical to a
car's front end?

The steering seems to be smooth from right to left, so maybe the
vibration is caused by something else.
