I acquired a 1973 Yamaha AT3 125cc dual sport that had gas left in it from
1987. I've run a couple gallons of lacquer thinner, shaking repeatedly over
several days, through it which helped a lot but it still needs further
treatment of some sort. Any tips? Thanks for your time, Mark.

you might also want to take the carb off and clean that as well.17 year old
gas must be a real mess in the carb.

Big pebbles. Throw lots of them in the tank and bash them around for a
good while. You're definition of a good while will do! Then get the
carbs cleaned, preferably with ultrasound is the favoured method these
days? Shakes all the varnish off apparently. And don't forget to tip the
pebbles back out the tank!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Go to the "Por15" site and order the fuel tank retoration kit. It will have
everything you need and it works. I've used it and it's great.

Try a handful of BBs, you know, those little round metal pellets you shot
out of your BB gun when you were a kid. You can buy them in hardware
stores.

Throw a handful of them in the tank with your lacquer thinner, put the cap
on and shake it arround really well. They will act little hammer and chip
most of the rust out for you. Then you have to get them back out. No big
deal!
