I can recommend Eagle screens (who are over in Perth) and do a great
DubBub for the Blackbird... other people I know who've enquired about
his XX screens and have been sent pics of my bike as an example... but
I recommend you go into Clark Rubber and buy some rubber moulding for
the leading edge... costs about $5 for the required metre or so.
Unfortunately most after market screen makers leave the unsafe sharp
edge on their screens. I found out the hard way years ago.

Biggest bloody birds in the world out there aren't they. I saw one
which was feasting on some kill on the centre line. I was approaching
in my car and there was another car approaching from the other
direction. He just walked off my side of the kill onto the other side
of the line, then when I had passed walked back around the roadkill onto
my side of the road to let the other car go past.

Had a few close-eagle-encounters on our trip up to Bundy last year, had
to duck my head and close my eyes a few times after big birds took off
just as I approached... including one which apparenlty cruised along in
my slipstream for a while. Remember another one years ago on the narrow
road between Orbost and Buchan which brushed my helmet with his wing
feathers as he tried to gain altitude and get out of my way.

Probably. In 20 years riding/driving in Victoria I've never had any
ticket issued for any detected speed less than 10kph over the limit...
or any other state for that matter.. but I can say that the police in
NSW (or at least the one who clocked me at +46kph) was very polite and
chatty. The cops on the Nullabor don't mind a chat either.

Two years ago, 104 in a 100 zone. $128. In Gippsland. Didn't even know till
I got the ticket in the mail a month later.

Nullabor cops must really be bored shitless. I'm not surprised.

How does all this relate to the topic? Which bit wasn't fun?
My longest day on a Blackbird was 1200km in 14 hrs from Singleton to
Melbourne, via the Putty Road, Bells Line of Road, a few laps of Mt
Panorama circuit, and 550km of the Hume Hwy, including 100km of belting
down rain north of Albury, and about 50km of peasoup fog around
Broadford. And all that on the last day of a 10-day 5000km ride.

The rain wasn't fun. Neither was the sore arse. Everything else was
brilliant. : ) To tell the truth after a couple of days I forgotten the
unpleasant bits and I'm looking forward to doing it again. The worst bit of
the ride was 200ks out of Kal it was getting dark and like a dickhead I forgot
my clear visor. So I had the choice of limiting my visibility with the visor
down or riding with it up and letting my glasses block the wind. Which is ok
up to about 80km/h. I ended up finding a truck to tail behind and hit the roos
while I followed his tail lights about 30 metres back. But the air was really
broken up and I copped a major buffeting. That really sucked. I stopped in
Coolgardie and found a Landcruiser trayback to follow for the last 40ks to Kal.
That was ok. I'll never forget my visor again, that's for sure.

Well, Singleton to wherever it is you turn off the Putty to pick up
Bells near Bilpin(?) is about 140km. Then it's about 150 to Bathurst,
and probably close to 200 from Bathurst to the Hume somewhere between
Yass and Gundagai. But, yes, that still means a lot of laps of Mt
Panorama.

Yah... and an XL500S is pretty horrid at 120kph through the bush too...

not what I'd call fun when the ground is rough.

Just got a ticket through the mail for 63 in a 60 zone the other day in Vic.
The radar clocked me at 67 and vic take off 3kph on photo tickets.

Nah, it's a cerebral thing...... if you play enough mindgames with yourself
it's amazing just how, um, enjoyable (ok, tolerable!) it can be Smile
