The most original version of Ace of Spades I heard was by Dynamo's Rhythm
Aces. Well-trained nuttters from Bristol.

I don't see why it is sad. I think it shows the audience aren't fixed in
their ideas of what music is which is very good.
But I do think you should do an experiment...

Maybe. I'm not convinced though. I appreciate that the problem is with my
own lack of satisfaction with what we are doing, and given we don't do it
for money, there's no other reason for me to do it than to get some
satisfaction from doing something I like to the best of my ability. I think
perhaps that we aren't being as adventurous as we could be in what we
collectively choose to play acoustically, and that a lot of the tunes are
somewhat safe and therefore a bit uninspiring - given our involvemt in the
rock band where we try to go out of our way to try and pick challenging
songs, perhaps that's where I personally find it a bit of a let down.

So the question that occured to me is why are you doing it? If you don't
like it and you are not getting paid for it, what reason is there to do
it, other than maybe a feeling you should?

Maybe it would be worth doing something a long way from what youa re
doing? Something that is far from an acoustic song - something by
metallica or such like. You can always arrange things differently

There is a sense of loyalty to the others - yes, and obviously a feeling I
should. That feeling is becoming less, and once any outstanding bookings
have been fulfilled, I will discuss further with my bandmates probably
withdraw gracefully without any ill feeling to essentially take a break and
maybe put something else together with like minded people.

I have suggested this approach quite a few times, but so far it has mostly
fallen on deaf ears apart from one guy who largely shares my sense of
boredom with what we are doing. This approach would be one which would grab
my interest certainly. Unfortunately although we all get along on a
personal level just fine, we don't necessarily all share the same musical
goals with the acoustic project :-/ That's got both advantages and
disadvantages.

Here's another easy one: My Sweet Lord by George Harrison (I think it's
about Krishna, not Jesus!). It's also the only popular song I know with
diminished chords. Everyone will know it.

I should explain.
The song was written and performed (mostly) by my 15 year old son who has
high functioning autism.
I get very defensive towards him, he has just had to leave the special
school he was at due to constant bullying not only from some pupils but
certain staff members as well.
anyways, I digress.
I just wanted to be sure no one was taking the piss.
