That's how I feel about Deal's Gap, but I haven't seen much of either the
few times I made it to the GA mnts this year. As for the speed, I go about
the same in the curves as I do on the straights. IOW, riding the pace.
It's easier on the bike and easier on me and it's enough to keep me
entertained. Yeah, I miss out on a lot that I could do on the track, but
then I don't have to worry about boy racer wannabes trying to prove
something and tucking the front while passing me on the inside. There are
more squids per mile on track days than the street. At least I can just
wave them past on the street and not see them again.

Can't say I agree with this at all, but I've only been doing trackdays since

It's all in how you define "squid." There are no shortage of people
willing to push it to the limit at the risk of life, limb, and
property at track days. You ever been to one where someone didn't
wreck? I've only been on a spirited backroad ride once where someone
did. And he wrecked for the very same reason they do on the track.
He was trying to impress people that he was better than he really
was. He doesn't do that anymore and he hasn't wrecked since either.

I can't believe that out in the baron west you find riding over the
"ton" a big deal. Crimeny, you ain't even got corn children out thar.

Say...people blitzing their favorite backroads at well over the ton?

Fortunately, people like that get out of the sport early. Darwin wins again!

Yes. You haven't? Admittedly, some are worse than others, but sure, I've
been to quite a few where no one fell down.

I've seen it happen bunches of times. And wound up in court because of it.
Street squids are so easy to find it isn't even a bad joke.

Maybe.

Good...he learned and slowed down. Same thing happens to track riders,
assuming their survive the first big get off.

I wasn't assessing the majority. How did you get that? I'm talking about
one or two squids on a 1 or 2 mile track means more than I see on the
street. I was only talking about track days, not racing.

So you've never seen any squids do track days? That's hard to believe. As
I replied to Tweak, one or two on a mile and a half loop means there are
more squids per mile on the track than the street.

Usually I'll see a bike on the street with tires shredded at the edges. So
they're either running race take-offs or they do track days. So I'll ask if
they do track days. Then the bravado starts... What they don't realize is
that riding isn't a competition to me. I've been riding motorcycles for
almost 30 years. Odds are I've met someone who's a better or faster rider
than them along the way so nothing they say or do is going to impress me.

I walk into an auto parts store and one of the employee's bike was outside.
I said nice bike, just to be polite. He looks at my bike and says *What
kind of exhaust is THAT!?* Um, stock. Then he starts telling me about how
he does track days at Jennings with the attitude like he's a hot shot. I
think he mistook my reserved demeanor for awe.

Then I read some tracks' forums and the problems they have with riders and
you know, I just like to CHOOSE who I ride with. The majority of those
riders are probably ok, but you know what they say about a few bad apples.
Dragging my bike 150 to 200 miles and paying $200 to share a mile and a half
loop with 20 other riders on someone else's schedule ain't my cup of tea.

I'm game!!!! What'll it be!! WD-40 as chain lube? Synthetic engine oil
versus cage oil? Trackday weeny statistics versus idiot and incompetent
street riders?! Pick a side....lets do it!
