Hi all
My wife has a Yamaha Sr125 which seems to do about 55 on the flat and 60
down hill. Now I am from the old school of 2 stroke where a standard 125
would do about 80/85. I spoke to some one with a cbr125 which he says does
85. How can I get more out of her bike so she can keep up with the traffic
on a dual carriage way.
Cheers

Depends on how optimistic the speedometer is, I bet most 125s over read.
I didn't think cbr125s were that quick.

The best tune up for a 125cc 4 stroke is for the rider. Like it.

Sounds about right.

With a tuned speedo, maybe.

He is taking some strong drugs.

Get her to pass the test and chop it in for a 250.

Possibly a little slow , but only by a few mph.

A restricted 125 wouldn't do much more than a true 70.
Derestricted and tuned ones would be quite a bit more lively.
> I spoke to some one with a cbr125 which he says does 85.
Optimistic speedo , and a downhill slope.
I had an indicated 65mph out of my derestricted 50cc scooter , but this was
down a reasonably steep hill , slipstreaming along behind a lorry.

Get her to pass the test

85 from 13 BHP? Not even on a "very light, stripped machine" according
to St Phil.

He didn't say she was on 'L' plates, but a reasonable assumption.
Sporty 125s are fun, but I wouldn't want to ride one all the time.

They're not. Not in standard trim on the flat. Even with our Jemma on
(and she weighs about as much as a damp rat) it struggles to clock 80.
Big hill and tucked right in you might see the needle pointing at 85 but I
reckon it'll still be a bit on the optimistic side.

All the CBR125s I've heard sound the same as a thrashed CG125. 125s of
that look should sound something like a TZR, NSR, RD... not a CG125. It
just isn't right.

My lad's NSR125 was fairly quick in semi-derestricted form.
Never quite managed the ton, but got pretty bloody close.
