Hi all,

I just purchased a VStar 1100 custom. My first bike. I love it except
for the valve ticking, which based on what I've read is normal. Has
anyone changed their exhaust to mask the ticking or will it always be
there even with a louder exhaust? My friend told me that I should take
the baffles out of the stock exhaust. The bottom line is I really
don't won't a very loud bike, just loud enough to cover the drone of
that tick. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Tom

make it louder? no, dumb idea.
much of the public hate riders enough, thank you.
you can't really get rid of it. it actually means your bike
is running right.
you could buy a 2 stroke. you actually have a very quiet
bike.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

well said. god yes its too quiet. One went past my place yesterday. I
was about 75 feet from it as it went past, i could barely hear it. we could
set your valves up so there is zero clatter whatsoever....but they would
burn from being too tight. a li'l bit of clatter means longer life for your
top end.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
