unh, no. There is a difference between a learner's permit and a
license, which should be clear from wherever you took that quote.

FWIW, each state is autonomous WRT motorcycle testing and licensing.
Traffic laws differ drom state to state and some states have more
difficult tests than others.

Bzzzzt.

Which, let's face it, is pretty much worthless.

Not dissimilar to the US.

In depth? Don't make me laugh.

So you do a DAS and within a month of deciding you want to be able to
ride a motorbike, you're able to ride a ZX10r if you can afford the bike
and insurance.

and, people still won't know how to ride. Sure, they'll know how to
control a bike to a basic level required for the testing - but, as well
you know, none of that reflects real world riding on a regular basis.

No, but it rather proves my point that the UK system is barely different
and certainly not "better" than the US system.

Which is the same test as someone on a 125 takes, but the power of the
bike that the test is taken on dictates the maximum power of the
machine they can ride.

not wrong at all...I took a written test to get the instruction permit,
then the "road test" involved riding down the block, turning the bike around
in a gravel lot, then coming back to the DMV's parking lot.... I was
informed before the "road" test that if I didn't "drop the bike" that I'd
pass....

Yeah, if someone thinks there is only one standard for getting a
license in the entire country. Or if they think that getting a
learner's permit is the same as a license.

When a person puts quote marks around a paragraph it's nice to know
who he's quoting. Was it some Brit travel guide, a German tourist's
blog, or the Illinois DMV?

And in this case, the rider wasn't very safe. After all, he topped
'imself.
