Get yourself a cheap bicycle speedo (with tripmeter) to strap to the
handlebar? Not ideal, but would probably work OK, after being calibrated.
Bonus would be that (if it can be calibrated) the speed reading would be
more accurate than the factory equipment, which is likely optimistic by
about 10%. -Dave >> Stay informed about: Is it possible to change miles for km on a GL1800? |

I can do it on my ST easily. Your big-girl should have the same, or near
same, set-up. Did you get a manual with that monster? >> Stay informed about: Is it possible to change miles for km on a GL1800? |

You could install a Speedohealer http://www.speedohealer.com, which lets
you easily switch from miles to kilometers and also lets you correct the
calibration of the speedometer.

Invariably the odometer reads pretty close to accurate but the speedometers
are off 5 to 10%, so when using a Speedohealer, you have to pick which one
you want to be correct, it won't fix both the speedometer error (or convert
from miles to km) and have the odometer remain accurate.
What is meant by "GL1800 -82"? If there's no way to convert from miles
to km without switching out the instrument cluster, I'd go for the
bicycle speedometer fix, myself.

Hmm. -82 should have been -02 for the year model. Sorry, missed the
right key.

The speedohealer looks interesting. I mailed them a couple of questions. >> Stay informed about: Is it possible to change miles for km on a GL1800? |

There's also a pennytech solution for some bikes. Draw a new speedometer
face, stick, copy, or print it onto a piece of cardstock, and replace
the old one with it. That requires disassembling the speedometer to
some extent.
Don't have a link for a GL1800, but here's one to a guy who makes
corrected speedometer faces for the Suzuki DL650, just to give an idea
of what's involved.

Yes, I got an operating manual. But I can not see that it has any
information about the subject. >> Stay informed about: Is it possible to change miles for km on a GL1800? |
