yeah, i know i haven't posted much lately...
so what the hell is up with Aaron Yates? he's officially surpassed Mat
"with one t" Mladin as the biggest asshole in AMA racing. IMO, the AMA
should fine him, suspend him, and the poor guy he attacked should press
criminal charges.
of course, it's likely he'll walk away with a slap on the wrist...

Aaron Yates has many At-A-Boys to his credit... namely his stunning
performance in 600 SuperSport class... he rode with pure heart on a non
competitive machine... but one "Aw Shit" like he pulled in the main
event may regulate him from hero back to zero... I'm applaud... how
could he forgot slow movers are natural obstacles like bumps in your
path???

I've watched the replay several times. It seems to me the other guy
left the inside open for Yates, yet Yates chose the outside line and hit
the guy anyway. Aaron's outburst isn't justified, IMHO.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Yates - very minor Daytona spoiler |

Who cares? It was the funniest thing I've seen on TV in ages. I watched
the replay of the fight as many times as they showed it, and laughed harder
each time.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Yates - very minor Daytona spoiler |

i think you might be kidding with the "who cares" bit, but just in case

i care. i care because, like it or not, these guys are roll models.
they're public examples to kids, to bikers, and to the rest of the public.

get even move, or worse a show of total disrespect... if that was the case,
it ends badly down the road in life.

They are paid entertainers. If you choose to put them on pedestals that's your
decision.
Someone making oodles of dough for riding a bike around at breakneck speed or
dribbling a basketball, etc. is hardly someone I'd want influencing kids with

Amen !!
Soooo right !
If my son ever looked to a football player, Baseball or any
other ball chasing guy as a role model Im having his urine checked.
If he looked to a rapper ( I hear this is popular now , too) Id send
him to a re-education camp.

The thing that does really bother me about it is the other guy is a privateer.
Suzuki is going to clean up Yate's mess but the other guy probably has some
shitty factory job and will have to work a lot of OT in that shitty , crap job
job for a lazy , useless supervisor to put his ride back together.
I do empathize with that.

I like the part where Yates literally kicks the other guy in the ass, and

I'm not kidding.

You mean "role" model. Although, watching the crash, one might say they
are "roll" models as well. But I hardly think racers are role models.

Give me a break! Motorcycle racing plays pretty much zip into the public
image of motorcyclists. I get so sick of hearing all the yuppie whining that
goes on in these newsgroups about the "public image" of motorcyclists. Who
do you think goes into professional racing anyhow? Nice, mellow guys who'll
just smile and say, "That's OK, I know you didn't mean it," to the asshole
who knocks them out of second place, or whatever it was that Yates was in?
No! You get competitive, aggressive people who, surprise, want to win, and
since they're already hopped up on adrenaline from the racing and crashing,
someone's going to get what's coming to them. It's hardly a matter of world
peace and it's not harming anyone else but the two people involved in the
conflict, so I don't really give a crap if they duke it out or not. You can
call it bad sportsmanship, but it's a pretty minor lapse if you ask me.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Yates - very minor Daytona spoiler |
