Archived from groups: uk>rec>motorcycles (more info?)

I've decided to add a pair of horns to the bike as a replacement for
the loud(ish) but characterless OEM part. I've got one working. That
was easy. I just disconnected the existing and took the leads to the
replacement. Then I realised it looked easy enough to mount the
matching horn (on the other side of the bike) to give a dual tone but
I wanted to check the correct wiring. Should I connect that in
parallel by extending the two leads from the existing to the new horn?
If not what?

Parallel will be good.
If it has two terminals, then it almost certainly won't just be directly
earthed.

Last weekend I fitted a FOAD Stebel air-horn to a friend's FZ6S[1], I
wired it in parallel to the original horn using a spur from the live
feed to the original as a switched pos feed to the air-horn's relay.

[1] A right bastard of a job as it involved splitting the horn from the
compressor and mounting them in different parts of the bike with a hose
between the. FZ6S's are short on space everywhere.

They're a pair of Fiamm (marked "RING" on the packaging)
electromagnetic type from Halfords £9.99 each and they do make a
lovely sound given the price. Much better than I had expected. I'm
going to lose one of these new ones next time I drop it because I've
mounted them hung off the lower Radiator cover mounts which means they
are a bit exposed.

I have a solution; don't drop the bike.

If you do, can I buy it off you...same deal.

He probably would get the power but the switch might not last long.

My preferred option too.

Haven't you got enough bikes already? Or maybe that's silly question.
by the way hope your arm's feeling better

One can never have enough motorcycles. If I create a garage vacuum by
selling the Triumph and Gixer, then I'll just have to find something to
take their place.

My arm is doing strange things at the moment. I hadn't taken any notice
of the aching and pain until that bloody Nigel Eaton asked how it was
when he came over yesterday, now I can feel it hurting; cheers Nigel
Smile. I suppose I'd just got used to the way it felt. Today I fitted the
heated grips I took off my SV onto my exes SV, and when testing them I
could feel the heat in my left hand, which is an improvement. I still
feel more with my right, but it appears things are starting to work
properly again.
