What a great day!!! The racing in WSB and WSS was excellent, really
entertaining watching the highest calibre of racing.
Max B and James T were superb, race 1 was nail biting, Toseland was
tenatious, not intimidated by Max at all but in the end Max just had a bit
too much pace, good tyre conservation and extremely consistant lap times.
Max was overcome and took about a minute to remove his helmet on Parc Ferme,
his eyes were full of tears, it was a great achievement though, new series,
new bike, new team, no racing for a year and won fair and square on his
first ever Superbike outing.
Race 2 was a stange one for Max, he got the start but soon fell back to 4th,
he needs the bike to settle before he pushes, means he loses a few places
but I guess he wants to feel confident with the bike and not drop it, so he
takes no chances early on.
He came back and was in 2nd and seemed to be gapping Haga and Corser and
making inroads to Tosland, then he fell back into the Yam squad and 2 secs
behind Tos, but he pushed and ended up 0.7 secs behind Tos on the line.
Great race by Tosland and a superb win, his tyres were gone and the bike was
squirming for the last 2 laps and Max running him down but he kept the pace
and hung on to take the win.
The Yams have great early pace but spend their tyres early and lose
competitiveness, the they lack the top grunt of the Suz and Honda too. In
fact Max and Tos seemed to have the same pace down the straight possibly the
Suz even has a miniscule edge.
The Ducatis were nowhere today, OK Lanzi got 3rd in race one but he was
never going to win, way off the front pace and race 2 was even more dismal
for them, Bayliss beaten by Lanzi twice too, I don't know what happened in
that camp today.
Philip Is next week, can't wait.

For some reason I'm really pleased that Max has done well - he won his
first ever 500GP race too [1]. A double like that is quite an
achievement.
[1] in fact, got pole, fastest lap and the win
