Pros:

- Fit and finish
- Controls
- Easy to handle in the parking lot (650lbs and low to the ground)
- Fantastic handling on the road, at all speeds
- That big, fat, front tire
- Breaking (three disks)
- Drive shaft. This is my fourth Yammy, all drive shafts.
- It's a Yamaha
- My girlfriend will actually ride it (she wouldn't get back on the
Seca Turbo, for some reason...)

Cons:
- Seats (I got a PCS seat for me -very good- and the gf will be
getting a gel pad or something)
- Riding position (I'm 5'8"). I'm installing handlebars with 3" more
pullback.
- It's not my Seca Turbo

I have the 2003 1100 Classic

Pros:
It's not an sr500
Handles like a dream
Great bike
Great features
Great ride
Always gets compliments

Cons:
Stock seat is ok but better of getting a mustang or corbin or whatever you
like.
Oil change is a pain but a relocation kit fixes that problem.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I have a 02 V Star 1100 Classic and love it. Back seat too unconfortable
for my wife to ride very long on though. Planning a 4 day trip to Canada
this summer (from Ohio) with some friends, will be my first long haul on it,
can't wait.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

My 1100 is a 1999 model, which I think is pretty much current
configuration, and was purchased used. The bike was very well
maintained by a local dealer. My thoughts on it:

Drive train noise seemed very loud to me. It wasn't possible to hear any
exhaust note when riding. The exhaust sound itself was puny, sick.
Changed to Cobra slip-on mufflers which are not very loud but do
ovrride the drive shaft noise and sound acceptable.

I removed the Corbin seat set, sissybar, etc. since it looked like too
much furniture for the bike, but on rides of several hundred miles a
more comfortable driver's seat might be nice.

Yes, for short people the handlebars don't sit quite right. But seat
height is correct and 5'8" 132 pounders like me can feel more
comfortable ground-handling it than other bikes. Low CG and ability to
put both feet firmly on the ground is key.

It rides all day at interstate highway speeds and is pretty stable in
the vortices of tractor-trailers.

I too have a Vstar 1100 custom........I find it a little rough changing
gears.........any other 1100 custom owners experience this?

I also agree with the handle bars........it is a little short for shorter
people to reach.....I was wondering if the bars on a Classic would fit?

No problem shifting gears with my Classic (once I figured out the
double shifter!).

And I ended up ordering a set of Flanders with an extra 3" pullback.
I'm 5'8" (and very handsome, I might add). I will be installing those
shortly (pun intended).

Sorry! What I meant is the heel/toe shifter... Is that the right name
for it?
