A pinlock visor insert solves the problem completely, IME.

Agreed. Pinlock inside (plus Rain-X outside for the wet trips).

I had one of those pinclock things on my Shoei, I had to take it out as the
top edge of it disected my line of vision perfectly.
(PS - If anyone wants a brand new one (fitted once and removed) to fit a
Shoei XR1000 then drop me a mail).

Maybe the arai ones are a bit higher or something, 'cause I reckon I'd
have to have my head almost horizontal over the tank and really forcing
my eyeballs upwards to be able to look through the top of the insert.
It runs almost across the top of the visor, only dropping down for the
brow vents at either side.
Or maybe my eyes are unusually placed. Or maybe, just maybe, I ride
like a big old ponce and my interpretation of being flat on the tank is
not quite the same as other people's...

So much depends on the shape of your head, and the helmet itself.
Personally I've never liked the heads-down riding position, as it
takes a huge toll on my neck, but on the rare occasions that I've done
it I've certainly been limited by the upper edeg of the helmet.

Ahh, could be. But it could simply be that the helmet sits at a
different angle on your head. Are you a freak?
