Hi there. Check out these magnetic gadgets that mount to the bottom of your
bike and trip the sensors at traffic lights. I figure if they only trip half
of them, that's still a good deal for less than twenty bucks.

Holy SHIT...20$ for a magnet?

Look, folks...there's nothing magical about the inductive pickups that are
layed in front
of the intersections.

Instead of paying 20$, just get a piece of galvanized metal and put it
beneath your crankcase.
Or hell....get a couple magnets to hold it on. 4$ and no waiting.

Keep it real,

pdawg

I found a good magnet for something like $2.50. It does help trip some of
those signals that wouldn't change for me.

I wouldn't dare pay $20 for a magnet.

JUNK JUNK AND MORE JUNK!
They have been proven to NOT work. Induction coils are a "RF" radio
frequency device NOT a magnetic sensor.
Unless YOUR state uses expen$ive magnetometers, attaching a $20 magnet to
your chassis will do NOTHING to change signals...period<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Sure shouldn't need one in my town... Sunnyvale has some
intersections where they have a BICYCLE silhouette with a vertical line
marked in the center of the lane. If a bicycle positioned over that
marking can trip a sensor, anything with a motor should definitely be a
cinch.

Now, if you were talking about those black-boxes that send a
coded signal to receivers on the lights (meant for emergency crews
and/or express muni busses to advance a green light over normal timing),
that would be a different matter.

Excellent! I'll mount it on the bike right next to the device that gets me
150 miles per gallon burning only water.

I just had a brain fart, Harley Davidson pink frilly boots with magnets in
the heels, of course it would add another Hundred Dollars to the cost of the
boot. Hey Willie G. I just had a fart for ya, ya know, like the fart you had
when you designed the V-rod.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

That's the most stupid thing i've ever heard! I mean, really! Magnet for
tripping sensor! Boy are some easy to full around!
I mount such sensors (for traffic barriers on parkings) and they react on
sufficient amount of METAL!!! not magnet...And it includes alluminium - i
normally test new sensor with alluminuim ladder to see if it works. And ( i
think) all bikes have quite some amount of metal or/and alluminium. I never
have any problems with such sensors - they always trigger when i stop on it.
They basically react on change of coil inductance, which occurs when some
metal comes onto the sensor, and it's sufficient this difference to be as
low as 0,005 %.

A magnet...and as they say, the strongest available...imagine, what you'll
have on it after a few hundred miles...<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

You just put your wheel over the cut line where that sensor is.
The outline is easy to see.
Problem is half these sensors don't work.
