This may sounds like a really basic and stupid question but can
someone tell me what the difference is between a tinted and a mirrored
visor?

Thanks

A tint being like a sunglass dark coating and a mirror being a mirror
that blinds uncoming traffic with the reflection of your bling.

A proper mirrored visor is mirrored on the inside, so you can watch yourself
without having to look at a mirrored building.
BTW, you will always look cool with a mirrored visor.

I wouldn't want a dark shield either way. If it's that sunny and hot,
I'd rather pop the shield up for some fresh air and wear sunglasses.
And a dark shield isn't what you want in the dark.

Not a great deal. Both reduce the light level however in tinted the plastic
has an opaque additive whereas the mirrored visor achieves the light
reduction with a thin layer of metal which is sputtered in a vacuum onto the
exterior. Different metals and thicknesses achieve different reflection
colours
