Here's a question for someone who has a genuine Yamaha windshield on
their V-Star. Not the Silverado type, the regular one.

There is a large bracket attached to the windshield, where the bolts
go through. On the right side (when sitting on the bike), my bracket
has a round, elongated piece of metal soldered to it, running across
the height of that bracket. It looks like it might have been put there
to prevent the cables from rubbing against a sharp edge.

Is yours like that too?

Yup, mine has that rounded bead of metal welded to the bracket from just
above the notch to around the top corner. Your explanation for it may be
correct. It's a nice windshield. The hardware fastened onto the bike in a
first-rate manner and the shield itself is definitely a good one. I saw a
good method fro cleaning it recommended on one website. I get one soft
towel wet with just hot water and wipe it down, then follow up with a second
dry soft towel. If bugs or spots remain, you simply go over it again. Does
the trick and leaves no scratches or streaks.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Did you get the tall or short windshield? Keep us updated on how well it
works. I see you sold your other shield and lowers. Are you going to get
the Yammie lowers?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
