It's getting so bad on the weekends (especially now that its warmer), I
refuse to go up Palomar except in the early mornings or weekdays. Looks
like a 20-year-old squid on a gixxer 600 lowsided into oncoming traffic.

The squid sounds like a candidate for a public flogging...

Aloha Again,
Worst part is, the idiot didn't have the decency to get himself wracked up.
Maybe it will make him refrain from riding in the future.

Yeah, one can only hope this will change his ways. From the number of
sportbikes I see on Palomar that have heavy asphalt sanding on both sides
though, I wouldn't be surprised if he's back at it as soon as his insurance
cuts him a check (assuming he was insured).

Collision kills Gloucester motorcyclist
3/29/2004

A Gloucester man died yesterday when he tried to maneuver his motorcycle
around a friend and fellow rider on Route 128 north in Essex, police said.
Trooper Thomas Ryan said that shortly after 4 p.m., Paul F. LeBlanc, 31, was
trying to move his 2002 Suzuki GSXR 750 in front of Antonio J. Fernandes,
20, also of Gloucester, who was riding a 2003 model of the bike. The two
motorcycles touched and Fernandes crashed. LeBlanc went off the road and hit
a tree. LeBlanc was pronounced dead at the scene, Ryan said. Fernandes was
taken to Beverly Hospital with leg injuries and later released, a hospital
spokesman said. Ryan said the accident is under investigation.

Which is a polite way of saying he put a passing move on his friend
but couldn't make it stick.

Not only are the squids fucking it up at Palomar, but right here in AZ as
well. Our beloved Tortilla Flats (AZ88) is becoming the same way, too many
squids crashing and doing their "thing" near the restaurant and boat docks
is getting alot of bad press for the sportbike riders. It's bad enough that
they ride down there at after 11am and start pulling their shit, we are
leaving by then and getting picked off because of what we ride. It's fine
as long as you get in your riding by 7 or 7:30 am, after that, your there
for the picking.

Kevin, did you ride the canyon on Sunday? If so, was the "heat on"?
Saturday was a clean ride but we were out by 9:30AM. Steve Keith, DJ,
Andy, Branko & I showed but no one else.

BTW, track day Sunday went fine but John V flogged me for being a
second gear wonder. Never touched the clutch or either foot control
except for the last session. Even then, I only went into third down
the main straight to maybe 130. Second was good for 30-110.
John said, don't waste your money 'putting around' out here when you
ride the canyon much faster. Crash phobia, new bike, trying to improve
my less than stellar track day record with Troy's "baby steps" mantra
or whatever -Smile

To top it off, Branko & James pals from the Pavilions all followed me
home to help upload my bike (nice youngsters overall). Anyway, one of
the guys on a GSXR 1000, like mine, was doing wheelies and stoppies
all the way down Ray road. I cringed as I saw him back there in my
pickup's mirrors.

PS. I did get a full session on video but didn't pack the camera good
enough in the tail section and both the audio and video break up on
the rougher sections. You & Mike Stein can use my setup next time if
you want.
