Krusty,
It was a joke.
Most newsreaders have a Rot13 decrypter built right in.

I could begin to easily decrypt your first Caesar cipher message from the
salutation and the signature file.

If you want to send a more mysterious English language cipher, omit all
punctuation, capitalization, double letters, and the letters E,T,A,O,I,N,S,H,
L,R,D,U whenever possible. Regardless of actual word length, use groups of
five letters with random null characters to confuse the decryptor.

That's what I tried too, but there are no double letter sequences in
the word "infant."

Leads me to believe it was some sort of secret CIA newsgroup coup that
Timsey recruited Andrew for. But as it turns out, Andrew was double
crossed and bannished to Houston where the only real steel he'll find
betwixt his thighs is in Gilley's on goat roper Tuesdays.

No, it was child's play. I sent my first Caesar cipher message to another kid
when I was eight years old, to test his intelligence. The result was
inconclusive, he may have had adult help in decoding the message and he
responded in the clear.

Where's the mental challenge in using a machine to think for you?
