Post subject: Speedometer
Archived from groups: tx>motorcycles (more info?)

I had my very first speedometer to go out on me. It did on our way
back from the Boo rally. I thought it would be the cable. I took it
off, and was pulling on the insert (the actual mesh wrapped metal
cable) and when I pulled a little more, a 2 inch peice came out. Went
online to Hondaparts.com, and found the insert for 3.88. I couldnt
believe only 3.88. I called my local store, and he said they didnt
have one, but I convinced him that the ''cable'' for a GL1500 was not
necesarilly for a Valkyrie, but for all GL1500 motors. So, he said
yes, I do have one. Howmuch? he said 22.81. I said but online the
insert cost 3.88. He said you cannot buy just the insert, ya have to
buy the entire cable, rubber cover and all! But, I still felt good
about it, cause I figured any Honda part would be atleast 50.00. 30
minutes later I had it on, and it worked just fine. /bjay/
