Do bar end weights make a difference? - I had the chance to ride my friend's SV650 for a short run lately. Not only was it so much smoother (as opposed to my buzzy F2) and quieter, it felt exactly like a video game... I didn't have to pay attention to the bike so much as just the ride..

Great way to make the bike faster - Lose a bunch of weight. how much better the old bikes go and stop these days. Thinking they just aren't too agreeable for fat people. A sad but true lo these many years of riding both fat, thin, and somewhere in the middle. ..

Well, with the 800SS donor bike at the race sponsor's shop, and a HUGE
box full of 1000SS donor parts en route to the same location, it
becomes more imperative than ever that my sweet Ducati 620 Sport find
a new home in order to help defray the mounting racing expenses.

To that end, I have listed the little beauty on eBay. Anyone
interested may contact me off-list at varider <at> verizon <dot> net,
or simply search eBay Motors under Motorcycles->Ducati->Supersport for
the listing.

Not even trying to make any money on the bike; it has a break-even
"Buy It Now" price and an even lower reserve.

Tim

Vintage racing? Is that how you stand a chance of breaking less bones
and still have some weekend fun?

On August 15, under the header "Racing Sessurection," I wrote:

This year, a new endurance racing series was formed, Moto-ST,
featuring three classes of twin-cylinder racing bikes, all based on
production U.S. motorcycles, and defined by weight and horspower.
The
lowest (and slowest) class requires a maximum of 75 horsepower on
the
race organizer's dyno, and a minimum of 360 pounds on their certified
scale, after the race. Races range from 2 hours to 8 hours, and some
are run by mileage with a time cut-off. Details can be found at
http://www.moto-st.com/

Anyway, after much discussion (mostly centered around age and marital
status) George and I have decided to resurrect the race team as
Screaming Duc Racing (the Flamin' adjective was the subject of a
certain amount of controversy the first time around) for the 2008
racing season. For the first time, we'll not only be a race team,
but we'll also be racing together rather than against one another.
We're going to campaign a Ducati 800 Super Sport, and it will be
prepared (at least the prep that we can't or don't want to do
ourselves) by Donnie Unger at Duc Pond Motorsports in Winchester,
VIrginia.

Should be fun. At our ages, and having been out of competition as
long as we have, we're not going in with any expectations. We just
hope to have fun, put together a professional-LOOKING effort (!), and
enjoy the cameraderie of the track one more time..... Hell, we may
be
the lappers or backmarkers in Moto-ST.... who knows until we get out
there?

So, no, it is NOT vintage racing. That is for OLD guys. Wink Tim

Thanks. Me, too. I know that it is only rare because it didn't sell
well in the first place, but I really do like the bike, a lot. I only
wish it had been available when I was racing clubman and lightweight
sportsman, so I could have campaigned it instead of my EX500
superbike. Admittedly, the EX grew on me, and I cam to be very fond
of it, but the little Ducati is something more, to me.

Not a whole lot to add except that it's a beautiful bike. I hope its
new owner takes very good care of it.
