It was alleged that Max & Noami Campbell dated at one stage. Sham
(refer to Rossi's blow up doll post race celebration) or not, there
must have been alot of fireworks there.

Anyways with regarding to Rossi, I think ages ago (while he was with
Honda?) he had an Italian model hanging in his garage. Also there were
pictures of Rossi partying with lots of pretty ladies on a yatch.

I am so proud. The other day my daughter's mother (and former wife)
related this story: she was picking our daughter up from school, a
French language school, and was discussing the next Tour de France
with a teacher. Apparently they were discussing who might be the
next Lance, and my ex turned to my daughter and explained: "Lance
Armstrong is the greatest cyclist in the world." To which my daughter
replied: "No! The greatest cyclist in the world is VALENTINO ROSSI!"

Kinda made my eyes wet, that did.

It's fun to point at Rossi's "Special Friend", Uccio. But mostly I think
Rossi has found a way of living without being right in the media
spotlight 24/7. Who knows what he gets up to on the private yacht or in
Ibiza, or London. Just because there's nobody hanging round the pit on
race day doesn't mean there's nobody in the background. For some people
it works but for Rossi it seems like he just needs a personal squire
over race weekend who knows what he needs and when to keep out of the
way.

Does it matter? Of course it matters if he's a global celebrity. He's
not just a bike racer any more than Barry Sheene was "just a bike
racer". But then Hello magazine, the Beckhams and all the other sporting
and media personalities don't actually *matter*, they're just part of
the game.
