I've been riding since the early '70s. Rode Honda, Yamaha, and two Harleys.
I bought the Midnight Star in March 2003 ( an '03 model) and I absolutely
love it. I am 6'3" and weigh in at 265. I am comfortable on it. I had
moved the floorboards forward 3" with a kit, but took them off just recently
and put an engine guard so I can put foot pegs on it and stretch out more.
Its like every motorcycle I ever had, including the Harleys, you keep
wanting to add something. A bigger person like us looks good on the Road
Star. It is just a big looking bike. I added saddlebags and windshield and
driver's backrest. I have it set up for me and I am very comfortable. It
runs good and sounds great. I had the dealership install Vance & Hines Long
Shots mufflers and rejet the carberator and put a hi-flow air cleaner. It
sounds absolutely fabulous. It sounds better than both of my Harleys did.
Except for the recall, which is in the transmission and being taken care of
by Yamaha, I would highly recommend the Road Star. I plan to have this bike
for my last one. I'm 56 and at the rate I put miles on, it should last my
lifetime.
