Whilst heading home on my bike there was a car heading towards me on
the same side of the road as i was. I thought coming off my bike was
the less painful option to take instead of going over his bonnet. When
i picked myself up i gave the bloke a few words of which he had said
he did not see me and that he was coming from a sharp junction. I had
asked him if he had his insureance details on him and he said no. I
called the police and we gave our events of what had happened. They
did not breathealise us and they let the guy go before i could get his
details and also ask if he would accept liability so that i would have
witnesses. The next day i went to show my details and asked if i could
get the guys address so i could speak to him for the insureance. They
police said no due the data protection act. I passed what details i
knew to the insureance but they also wrecken that it would be hard to
prove my innocence. In my insureance i am aslo covered by legal
expensis and still waiting on what they say about all this. so far the
moral of this seems to be that if you want to claim off someones elses
insureance so to keep your no claims intact, if it is their fault, is
to go over the persons bonnet and increase the injury to yourself. >> Stay informed about: Road Traffic Accident |

If you are in the USA, the freedom of information act allows you to request
copies of the officer's notes, video footage from the squad car, and even
the radio transmissions from start to end of your "event"
You might find your information via those outlets. Also, go to the police
station and sign a complaint against the other driver for "reckless driving"
or "careless driving" as then he will have to show up in court. If the
ticket sticks, you can show the documentation to the insurance companies.
It also gives you more leverage for the freedom of information requests
provided above.

Strange man, I meet someone on the wrong side of the road about once a
month. But the less painful option is actually steering to safety, not
falling on your head. HTH,

Sounds like this happened in jolly old England, in which case I'd say
you're fucked! Your police don't care much for public safety unless it
means speeding revenue or another excuse to put an extra finger up
your arse.
But on the odd chance you have a leg to stand on, I'll x-post so the
toothless limeys can work on it.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ --> >> Stay informed about: Road Traffic Accident |

Right, you're the subtle fucking interpreter of what every contributor to this
group "means," and that ought to carry a lot more weight than what they fucking
WRITE.

By your peculiar standards, then, that makes you one out of three.
Congratulations, asshole.

Then you didn't fucking know me very well, you little fucking pinheaded
asshole. Now that you do, I'd suggest you avoid me like the fucking plague.

Just to prove you have no fucking sense of humor, that phrase was a joke until
you repeated it. I still have two Japanese bikes and a German bike in my
garage, you dumbass.

WTF makes you think I went into debt?

My junk cost $50 and was a very good deal; it was not the least bit overpriced.
You, otoh, wouldn't know a good deal if it fell into your lap.
And for Christ sake, my post wasn't that sarcastic in the first place.

Good advice, which is probably why I won't take it; but I appreciate the spirit
in which it was intended! (And I won't be ridign this weekend, with eight
inches of snow as of now, and more possible later today.)
