Post subject: Ride for Doug - Reeky Edition

Hey all you out there. I've missed a bunch of you over the last year.
I just haven't had the bandwidth to keep up with the Reeky bandwidth.

I'm back to announce the Ride for Doug - Reeky Edition.

Ride for Doug is my very first attempt at holding a charity motorcycle
ride. It's a short, low key, ride with some friends old and new. We're
raising awareness and support for Muscular Dystrophy. Doug is my son,
and he loves motorcycles. He also has MD. Any funds we raise will go
to the local chapter of Muscular Dystrophy Canada - an organization we
will spend a lot of time with over the rest of his life.

The Reeky Edition is a little different. I don't expect people to come
here from around the world - so I'm adding a twist. On the day of the
ride - July 15, 2007 - I'm asking Reeky members (and wanna bes) to
simply go for a ride. Go for an afternoon ride, and record your milage.
Then enter it on the website www.RideForDoug.com in the comments section
of the blog post announcing the Reeky Edition. I'll add up the total
miles to see what the "web 2.0 version" of the ride is capable of.

So, check out the website, and get ready to ride. Don't worry about
donating if that's not your thing - just ride for a little guy facing a
long road.

And thanks.

(if there's people from the "olden days" of reeky that you think would
be interested, pass it along. I have nobody's e-mail addresses.)

Sounds like a worthy undertaking to me. Sunday, July 15...

I'll be riding for Doug.

I remember your posts back when you rode a 2 smoke (RZ 350?). I think it
blew up.

I missed the local MDA ride because my bike was in the shop. My wife's
employeer (a small chain of auto shops) does an MDA benefit every year, they
sent 2 kids to camp this year.

I hope that our small contribution helps.

Glad to see you back posting. You have our support, such as it is.

I'm into this.....I'll be riding, rain or shine (but further if it's
fine!).

My younger brother's new wife has her oldest boy (13) in an electric
wheelchair from MD. It's sad how fast he's gone downhill in a short
time. Poor bugger can't even lift his arm if it falls off the armrest.

I won't be donating, but I'll be thinking about him.....let him know
he's not alone. (wiping tear from eye)

Thanks a lot guys. It's nice seeing the human side of reeky every once
in a while.
