I saw a lot of bikes on the road today, ZX10, a Busa, and even a Buell. Of
them all the Buell sounded the shit. It makes you pick up your head and pay
attention. You really can't beat a twin for the aural sensation.
Unfortunately to get the whole package - looks, sound and ride then you must
venture to Italy. But to get the quality/cost ratio you must go to Japan,
and then you lose at least one of the above. So I continue to make a case
for myself to own 1, 2, 3, howevermany different bikes. Even though I love
the one I've got and I wasn't riding it today. Not to make this yet another
Buell thread.

I even convinced myself that someday I might own a Harley. My thought
process went like this. 1. Wouldn't it be cool to ride across the country
some day? I mean, how can you not? What a damn cool thang that'd be. 2.
You could pick any bike you want to do it on. Top candidates, maybe a
sport-tourer, but the goal is to take your time and drink in the scenery.
What better than a Hawg? Comfy saddle, kicked-back seating, windscreen,
climb aboard and ride. So long as you're doing the storybook ride why not
do it on a Harley. It completes the deal and makes it uniquely American,
whatever that means. I think it'd rock. I asked my wife if she wanted to
ride across country with me and she gave me a funny look. Then I asked,
"even if I bought you your own bike?" and I got a funnier look. I'll never
understand them non-biker people.

My bling bling package is ordered and I'll post pictures of the project in
the coming weeks. I got the big-ass titanium can from Two Brothers, I am
watching it's progress across the United States on the online shipping
thingy. My muffler is riding the American circuit in the back of a brown
van. We cross paths somewhere in Minnesota as I travel to the East Coast
for the next week so somebody post something entertaining. I'm going to
burn some company money in NYC. What a great city, but it's even greater on
an expense account.

They sell Buells in Italy?Smile They have lots of them here in the USA.
No sense in going to another country for them.Smile

You keep telling yourself that.

Well we are due for one. Heck you got 50 crotch rocket threads to one
Buell,Triumph or Ducati thread.

Yep. My Dad rode to GA from northern Illinois on his bagger while only
stopping for gas. IIRC he said it took him like 16 hours.

Yep I agree.

That depends on what you like. An American V twin sounds about as
pleasing as a lawnmower to me, whereas the sweet wail of an inline 4 is
music to my ears.

I'll second on the HD sound but find the I4's are so common and
anymore I mentally key that sound to squidlings, off the race track,
anyway. 30 years of listening to the little changed scream of inlines
4s can do that -Smile

OTOH, the not so common as dirt "musical tone" of a Hinkley triple on
the pipe + Ferrari like intake honk is simply "eargasmic".

Perhaps 20+ years of riding inline 4s has colored my perception, as they
sound "right" to me, whereas triples sound like they have "something
wrong". I also think my V4 ST w/ Staintunes still sounds like a
biplane, but I find the sound of my little 2 cylinder, gixxer piped
GS450 growing on me.
