First up,

I have reposted this as I stuffed up and wrongly put it in a thread that
Mad_Biker was using...sorry mate.

Some time ago I asked a question re this bike, that refused to start, but
had spark, fuel and the like.

This is what I posted...
He started it up, and it ran real ragged, spewing lots of blue smoke, and
running real rough.
It died and would not restart. The plug showed plenty of fuel, but would
not kick. It has heaps of compression, and whacks out a huge backfire
after trying to kick start it. A bump start won't work either.
We purchased a brand new NHK plug, and no change...just flooded all the
time.
We removed all fuel in the bowl of the carby, and tried again..still no
go, and plug was damp again. We also tried new fuel.
There is a small black ignition box on the wiring harness....is there a
condensor or something in this unit that could be affecting startup ? How
do you test it to see if all is ok?
The only thing we can think of to do, other than those things tried, is to
pull it apart and try to see if it is a timing issue.
We are about 50Kms out of town, hence the questions, otherwise we will
have to try get it to a repairer in town.
Naturally, we have no workshop manual, and are flying blind...ah well, at
least we are having a go!.
If anyone has any contributions to assist, we sure would appreciate the
help.
Thanks all

Thank you to the many who replied, and pointed us in some directions to
check on.
It was only last weekend ( late) that this bike finally kicked in.
After checking heaps and heaps of things, it was found that the little
keyway on the crankshaft was the problem. It had broken off, and all that
was left was the key in the keyway.
We got this broken key out, and purchased a new one ($4), and fitted it.
Reassembled everything, and it started first time. Boy was that frustrating.
My nephew came here again today for a ride ( we live rural), and off he
went.
30 mins later he comes back in a lather of sweat, having pushed the bike
back from 1 Km away.
He says he was riding along, and it simply died and would not restart. We
went through all the fuel and spark issues agin...no luck.
Ripped down to the crank shaft again, and yes, you guessed it, the key was
busted again.
Nephew is going to the local dealer tomorrow to see what may be causing
this, and work out what he should do.
I told him to burn it !

Anyhow, thought I'd give some feedback on the original fault, and what was
the fault that caused it not to start.
Hopefully the mechanic will help him out.
Thanks to all those that tried to help us.
