Hello!

I've got a question! A few months ago I had my 03 gsxr 600 ECU remapped at
my local shop with some sort of yoshimura remapping device. I just recently
installed a Power Commander 3usb. Does anyone know if there are any
conflicts or problems by doing this? My only "engine" mod is a Yosh TRS
endcan and TRE mod. I used the Yoshimura Full Exhaust and stock filter map.
When I rev the engine (in neutral) through the rev-range, the PC3 shows that
it is running perfect fueling. I'm wondering if that reading is off because
I had the ECU itself remapped. I think that maybe the engine is running
rich but is showing balanced fueling.

Thanks for any help!

This is a common occurrence with mapping via Yosh after fitting an after-market can. The
free-flowing can typically causes a hole in the fuelling, a lean spot at lower revs.To overcome this
cheaply tuners use a yoshbox to richen up the fuelling, but it does it across the rev range, so that
you end up running rich where before the fuelling was right. Most people are happy with this as it
smoothes out the lower revs, at the expense of a possible slight loss of power in the upper revs.

If you are going to fit a power commander you must accompany this with some time on a dyno to
justify the expense of the PC. The Dyno tuner will make the necessary mapping adjustments to give
you a nice, linear power curve, whilst ironing out the low down gremlins. This PC map can be "laid
over" the original Yosh settings, or you can get the tuner to set the ECU back to standard with a
yosh box first, I don't think there is any benefit either way.

Well yeah, all the dynojet maps are going to be off cause your ECU is
off. This is assuming the dealer actually reprogrammed the ECU.

The dynojet has no way of knowing what state of tune the ECU is in.
That's why they have separate maps for the US and Euro models cause
they're tweaked differently. All it does is alter the signal up/down
to compensate for the factory jetting by a certain %, it doesn't know
what the total value is.

If you're not going to get rid of the PCIII or re-zap the ECU back to
factory then you're gonna need to take the bike to a tuning center
with a gas analyser. They can fiddle with the PCIII and figure out
where you're rich/lean and take it from there.

Otherwise the stock maps the PCIII uses are 90% there without the dyno
work. But with your tweaked ECU they're not workring right.
