It so happens that I shall be in Birmingham with my gf on Valentines
Day. We'll be staying at the Burlington Hotel on New Street - can
anyone recommend a swanky restaurant within walking distance or short
taxi ride from there?
She's a vegetarian, and I have famously poor appreciation in food, so
I guess I'm looking for somewhere that put style above content

The teppenyaki restaurant in the centre of Birmingham was acceptable a
couple of years ago. I can look up the details if that floats your
boat/wallet.

She's working in brum (doing stuff for the Inland Revenue), so that's
why we'll be up there.
<soto voce>
Actually, central Birmingham's quite nice nowadays.

You don't fool us. You are taking her there specially for the 'True

I should email her and warn her.
I mean, I was *right* in with Snowy up ^^^ there. She was straining at
the leash with my "International Man Of Mystery" routine. Gagging for
it, she was.
Then Champion comes crashing in with his[1] size tens and reveals me for
the shallow, transparent man that I am. The cunt.
He owes me.
[1] Admittedly, beautifully shod.

I got a rebate in 2006 for the ~£3K they owed me for overpayment on my

This year, it turns out they owe me £1.60 - I wonder how long that'll
take to get back.

Indeed it was - great food & a good laugh. However we went there for
our xmas do last month & it was a bit disappointing compared to
previous visits. May have just been a blip though. It's in Brindley
Place, just off Broad Street.
There's an excellent Chinese behind the church at the Broad Street end
of Newhall Street, but I disremember its name.
