I never said Buells DIDN'T go to the track...Barney handles that end of the
issue...its just I don't ever get to see any, haven't seen any, ever. I know
they are out there, they just aren't out there MUCH.

I noticed that the place mentioned is Blackhawk farms ( yeech...here we go
with rinky dinks again ), but it looks like they are still argueing about
the time and date?

Since I don't watch BWB unless there is something I'm in the middle of, can
you keep an eye open for me and let me know when everything finalizes? I'll
keep it in mind, my preferences being decent tracks rather than local little
ones, but it looks like they are trying out a Buell BWB only event....would
they mind me tagging along with my rinky dink track bike rather than my real
track machine?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Trying to rent Road America was talked about also, if we get enough people
to sign up, that may just happen. But, according to the guys who do a lot
of track time, Blackhawk is suited quite well to the Buells. Not a ton of
long straights, etc...

Troy, Buellers don't mind other bikes Smile

Seriously, no, it wouldn't be a problem. Dyna will be there with his R1,
Matt(my nephew) will be there with his GSXR600, And a couple of guys I've
started riding with, on a Ducati 749(I think), and some Honda crotch
rocket.

The guy trying to organize this thing (Daves is his badweb handle) is in
to sportbikes in general. He just happens to ride a demo XB12R, and work at
Appleton Harley Davidson.

I really hope you can make it.

Now over the winter, I gotta get myself a set of leathers, boots, good
gloves, a Snell approved helmet(yes, I do wear a helmet 99% of the time
on the street, it's just one of them flip up face ones, just not Snell
approved), and a good set of tires. I do have some "race" Dunlops that
came with the bike(previous owner did some track days), just not sure if
there is enough "meat" on 'em.

I think I may also swap on the "spare" bodywork for the track(much worse
shape than what I have on the bike) that I picked up off ebay for $150 Smile<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

oh yes...I imagine most rinky dinks are pretty well suited to the Buells,
what with their lack of power, heavy weight, poor brakes, etc etc
BBWWAAAHHHAAAHHHAA!!

But hey, Road America now...THAT is a track.

says you, I've been around Mike and his "lets all bash imports" routine for
so long now....anyway, as long as they don't mind other bikes I might be
game, as long as they don't mind me bringing my "rinky dink" bike if its a
"rinky dink" track.

LOL, I knew I could count on at least _ONE_ delusion from ya Smile

It certainly is. I've been there numberous times for the historic car
races. Watching Ferrari vs Ford is quite enjoyable there, even though the
outcome has always been the GT40s and th Cobras just dominating thr track.

Naah, they don't mind. Hell, i was applauded for inviting some more riders
on the crud run. One Duc, One baby gixxer, and one Honda. Hell, those
three also asked when the next ride was, and are excited to go. nice guys.
It's not about the bike. It's about the ride and destination. We were
jokin' to the Duc rider, that he finally gets to ride with a group, and
not be the loudest bike Smile

If everything goes right, yes. While takin' a ride to the local frozen
custard place tonight, I've also though of upgrading the shifter(the stock
one is pretty sloppy after 13K), and relocating the pegs. They are a tad
too low for rapid twisties IMHO.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

OK Troy let me get this straight now it has to be a huge track? The
guy is going to a track day. He will learn, he will become a better
rider. So some tracks have long straights. What skill will you gain
on those long straights? If you can't turn what is the sense? I mean
that is the most important aspect of riding correct? Anybody can go
fast straight.

Troy I have been bashing imports (And its owners):-)long before I
owned a Buell.Smile One of my riding buddies rides an old Kawi. Nothing
wrong with that. Do not judge an entire group of rider because of one
individual. I am very pro American hence my negitive opinions about
import junk in the past. I am coming around though.

Yeah, but not everybody can haul the beasts down in minimal time to take the
upcoming corner gracefully. It is an art. One that I'll likely never attain.
But let me and Coleman get these track weened wussies out to WV where men are
men and their buck toothed sisters know it! Then we'll create a proper pecking
order amongst this group of fuddy duddies.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

No. I like big, fast, national caliber tracks but I'll even
ride rinky dinks.

Not much. What you learn is how good your brakes are at the
end of the straight, straights are boring, straights are for
guys with big fast bikes who can't corner...you see it on
the street all the time.

yup. I want to go to Road America because I've never been
there...and its another AMA track I would like to collect.
Barber, now THAT was an interesting place for non
literbikes....and I bet Buells would do okay there.

Come further west...
Portland Int'l. I'll make it a mission to attend.
Don't bring the mite Troy, you'll want the gixxer there.
Bannon's been talking 3/4 liter now too.

yeah...but you live in Cheeseland. You have to ride like
1000 miles to see ANYTHING.....so....did you go that far, or
just cruise around dairyfarms and stuff?

I don't know how that would work. I'm used to good brakes if
not exceptional ones, fine, smooth, useable power, good
handling, and sticky tires. Except for maybe sticky tires,
it would require a thoroughly reworked Buell to meet even
the basic trackday qualifications!

handling or braking problems? Oh wait, you've never ridden one Smile Did you
not read the review in here on the XB9R from inlaw biker? Saying how it
handled better than he thought it would?
