In my search for used SV-650's"

1) There aren't very many in my area, if people put them up they sell
right away.
2) 02-06's that I saw were priced from $4=listed to ~$5.5K with a
brand new one haggled down to $6K cash.
3) I checked Autotrader, Craigs list and a general I-new search for my
area + two dealers.

I think I'll buy a new one or the 06 with a nice bright red color and
Micron pipe with 8K miles on it.

Yup. Still a decent and popular bike

The price I was given last week for an 07 was $5999+Tax. There is another
place which might have given me a better price but I really wasn't looking
for another one, in the end.

There ya go. Mine had 3K on it when I bought it. 18K now. Its needing some
reasonable maintenance, but that is this winters work.

My qoutes were OTD prices. They're really hard-up for sales now.
NEW $6K OTD, 06 $5,5K OTD with the Micron pipe, new tires and a few
other goodies.

Saddle, they're not out yet and the dealer said there was some kind of
problem which would delay production until at least midyear 08.
There's also a question about seat height. Will it be close to 30" or
33.5" like the rep 675?

I'm having the triple clamps and rear preload set for about 30" on the
SV I buy and almost $9,500 for a naked version of the $8000=real MSRP
675 is outragious.

From what I've read on the makers' websites, both the SV & Street Triple
have a 31.5" seat height. I did see one on ebay with a buy it now price of
$9500. It was in NY and they said it was a demo (102mi, still new) and the
only one available yet. The item number was 300148156924 and if you search
it from ebay motors you should be able to pull it up. The auction only got
to $6100 and didn't meet the reserve. Who knows, maybe you can contact the
dealer and work a deal.

Sounds almost identical to one a guy in my gym recently bought (had
frame sliders on it too).

I agree, but you'd have the exclusivity of an MV Agusta F4CC for a tiny
fraction of the price. Besides, $9500 was the Buy Now price. His reserve
should have been lower, but not likely less than $9k, IMO. If Triumph is
really having production problems and they won't be available until spring
2008, you might be able to get what you got in it if it doesn't suit you.
Another way to look at it, you could put the $3k (lets say they go $9k)
you save into the SV and the Street Triple would still dominate the SV.
Horsepower is usually cheapest from the factory, no? Not to mention
suspension... It's your choice though; only you know what you'll be happy
with.

I don't think Bob is all that motivated by how cool he will appear on
the bike. You should have seen his de-bling'ed GSXR1000 before he went
deer hunting with it.

It's not about bling or looking cool, it's about technology and performance.
I know Bob's not a poser. To me, the Street Triple is a bike begging to be
flogged, not parked at Hooters on bike night. Hell, the local Triumph
dealer should subsidize him to get the bike, considering the exposure he
would give to the bike. Think about the advance sales he'd generate.
Besides, he likes Triumphs and the bike just seems to fit what he's looking
for.

Good deal. The sv is only the 2nd motorcycle I've ever owned where I
seriously considered buying another one because the first one was so good.
The other was the KLR.

It is my second now:) I'll post a ride report once I ride it more than
just around the block. BTW, they set up the triple clamps and rear
preload so that I could flat foot it even better than the RZ.

Claimed dry weight is only a few lbs heavier than the SV, so it would probably
be an option. Although I doubt many dealerships would consider cutting anyone
a break since they will probably have enough trouble keeping them in stock.
I imagine the bike will be a hit.

While I'm thinking about it, let me mention. Prior to crashing mine, I had
the handlebars filled with the silicone sealant and lead weights. It moved
my "by feel" shift points by at least 1000-1500 rpms, and made full tank
track sessions completely possible, versus putting my hands to sleep within
10 laps.

After the crash, I put new bars on, vibration point was back down where it
was before. When it goes in for this winters shop work, its getting the
silicone and lead weights back in the handlebars. I've done this to my last
2 or 3 bikes now, and its made at least SOME difference on all of them, but
it had the most positive effect on the sv.

Just thought I would mention it, if you are sensitive to vibes like I am.
