Found a review of the Vibe somewhere Mike, manual tranny, they mentioned 2
things of note. Required high rpm work for decent forward progress, and
their average mpg over a few thousand miles was 21.5.

Maybe you and your wife's incompetence at driving cages isn't the problem
with your fuel mileage issue...maybe it just gets crappy mileage.

Well, I may be getting rid of the lemon and getting the SRT-4. The
most horsepower for the buck cage made.

Car and Driver: 0-60 in 5.6 seconds, top speed 153 mph

While obviously a turbocharged, well-tuned Neon - which is not a bad
thing - the SRT-4 manages to combine desirable Neon traits with
desirable Spirit R/T traits, and in the process absolutely blows away
most competitors, especially the Toyota Celica and Acura RSX.
Acceleration is very strong but also very smooth, so that while it
posts similar figures to the Spirit R/T, it does so without as much
need for driver skill and cooperative roads. Acceleration is strong
from any engine speed, with no need to be up in the high (4,000+) rpms
before getting turbo boost and a kick in the pants. The interior is
nicely done, with tasteful chrome accents and a visible if small
boost/vacuum gauge. Construction seems tight and solid.

Handling is very good but ride is not compromised - again, a vast
improvement over the Celica and RSX, not to mention the Camaro. As a
modified Neon, the SRT-4 has a good-sized rear seat and trunk, too.
The engine is fairly loud with a rumbling, Camaro-style sound that
could easily be muted with a muffler if the owner desired a sleeper.

Read more about it here.:

Whats an SRT-4?

Gee. Wow. Forgive me for not being stunned and all, what
with those pathetic stats. Then again, from someone who
rides a Buell, I can see how it might be mistaken as
anything other than worthy of a grandma on her way to Sunday
morning church.

oh....THATS what you are talking about. No wonder they make
up another stupid name for it...otherwise people would start
giggling immediately.

well...as long as you don't mind the standard piss poor
domestic quality I suppose.

Have you driven one of these silly things already? Or
quoting the usual mindless spec sheet claptrap you have a
tendency to parrot?
