I'll be in up your way taking a tour with rockymtnmoto.com that runs from Aug
29 thru Sept 4. They put you up for 6 nights, show you around, run a chase
vehicle, and feed you for $1540 for the week if you take your own bike. It's
their new "Coast to Kootenays" trip not yet listed on their web site.
I'll be up in Vancouver for a couple days prior, but won't have a bike until I
start the trip (gotta rent one ya know).
Hope you can make it, peace.

I'll have to check out the website. The Ebenezer in me cringes at the
thought of paying folks to let me ride my own bike in my own back yard, but
maybe there's some way we can work it all out so's you and I can still get a
ride or two in, along with the requisite beers and bullshit.

Are you getting a bike with the Rocky Mtn Moto folks, so it'll only be yours
for the duration of the trip, or will you have time to do your own thang if
the mood strikes?

I didn't mean to dis the rest of yaz. Daniel posted recently that you were
settling into married life, he was all about race tracks now, and who knows
what happened to the culprit?
I brought my vacation idea up to Jammin in a post somewhere along the line and
he expressed potential interest in such a ride.
I'd certainly be up to buying a few rounds should you folks make your way up to
Vancouver that week. And if you can make the ride, that's even better!<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

1. I did not suggest the first item did or did not have anything to
do with Deerslayer..
2. I did in fact imply the second item.
3. Culprit has her own row to hoe, and I'd not presume to speak for
her. Helped move her into a fine new house mid-December, that's the
last I've heard. We'll catch up eventually: folks tend to disperse in
the off-season.

Interesting idea. There's a track day somewhere in there, I believe,
but one never knows: a street ride might be nice, too.

More on that as the summer approaches. Pls keep in touch.

Yeah, but if you figure the food and fancy hotels they put you up in at night,
you really aren't paying all that much.
6x150= 900 Hotel
6x60 = 360 Food
So you'd be looking at ~$1200 to do the same thing yourself. Though you could
do it a lot cheaper by staying in less fancy places and eating McD's.
If you just happened to ride along with the pack I don't think they could
charge you with a crime up there. I'd be a smidge concerned that without
reservations you may be suckin for a place to stay out there in the boonies at
times. When I get the itinerary I can forward it to you and you can look into
reservations and consider costs more effectively. You wanna drop me a real
e-mail address?

Well, as an ex-BC boy[1], I gotta speak up. Smile

The hotel prices kind of amaze me. $150US a night? Maybe at a ritzy place
in downtown Vancouver or at Whistler, but outside of those areas a good
room should _easily_ be available for $50-70 Cdn a night.

Food? You don't need to eat at MickeyDs either. $10 for breakfast, $15
for lunch, $20 for supper - say $45Cdn total. And you should be eating
pretty decently at those prices. Personally, I figure $30Cdn/day would
be more than enough for me.

$500US should cover 6 days of lodgings and food pretty easily.

I wouldn't worry about it. <shrug> There are plenty of towns and rooms around
southern BC.

You'll have fun. BC is a pretty cool place.

Exactly. When I go on road trips, I don't spend $60 a day on food, nor $150
a night on hotels. The $34.99 Motel 6 is more my speed. Yes, I am sometimes
an cheap bastard. But I'm still at the point where I like my adventure
served up somewhat raw, not pre-packaged and with a mint on the pillow. But
for you this is "vacation", and on vacation I tend to live it up a bit, so I
understand.

It's on its way.

OK, so that rules out any after-party on the highways of BC. Maybe once I
see the itinerary there could be a way for me to squeeze in amongst you and
the other pampered guests for at least a day or two. Does this mean you
won't be playing in Vancouver much? Or do you have one or two days there
apart from the motopeep ride?

Our plan is to arrive in Vancouver the 27th, have a look around the 28th, make
for Whistler the 29th, ride the 30th thru the 4th and then either come back the
5th Saturday or maybe stay another day in Vancouver and come back the 6th. The
7th is Labor day, a terrific day to unpack and upload pics for AMS. Probably
take the video camera too if you want me to take some footage of you departing
into the sunset.
I'll be on a Sprint ST (break my triple virginity). Does this bike have a metal
tank? I'd be packing my video camera in a magnetic bag.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Case in point, We got a room at the Hyatt Regency in Vancouver for $62.00 a
night (Valentine's day weekend) on Priceline.com

I can't wait to go to a "coffee house" this weekend since Vancouver beat out
Amsterdam (for the first time ever) for such places in a current Travel Mag.

It should be a fun weekend!
