I came awful close. But a buddy, who just happens to have race tires the
same size as what I need, happens to be going on vacation, and between 2
vacation days, 2 sets of race takeoff's, and 2 local tracks which, while not
as interesting as SIR perhaps, are closer, cheaper, and probably empty by
the end of this week, I just couldn't come.

However, I do get to run race tires, albeit used ones, which will hopefully
give me a feel as to what the zook can do with better feel or more
confidence than the Sportecs can provide, a different profile front and
rear, and someone to play "chase" with.

But for $100, I'm going to have to keep SIR in mind. Does this Suzuki
dealership do Portland International as well?<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I'm sure you would! But you'd probably rather have the S3 there, I'd think.
A supermotard would be excellent for the road to Hana. I did it once on a
rented H-D Fatboy, and that was pretty fun. Even took the Fatty through the
"forbidden zone" of no pavement and flash flood washouts, to loop all the
way around Maui, rather than just turning around at Hana and heading back.
Fun trip.

Enjoy!

Talking to a few guys, I have the distinct impression scuba diving's
not dissimilar to riding motorcycles fast: with sufficient training
and proper equipment, everything's usually great. If not, it ain't,
and injuries or worse might result.

Guess I'm methodical these days: I'd pick my diving instruction
carefully, had I any interest (I do not). Also like riding bikes,
some of the skills grow stale after awhile though one never forgets
the fundamentals. Unfortunately, it's the details that may make or
break the new or returning diver/motorcycle rider.

Where there's a will, there's a way, in both cases.
