This was your tentative schedule. I suppose the bad news is if I were you I
wouldn't want to ride Saturday or Sunday morning either. Maybe this just
isn't going to work, out of deference to your age and wisdom. The problem as
I see it isn't in my riding, its in you NOT wanting to ride after some huge
trip out and immediately back. If it were me the last thing I would want to
do is ride some more, the spectating and partying sounds more interesting if
for no other reason than a break in long riding days.

Not being a natural motard spectator, #1 I'm not particularly interested in
hitting Copper just to watch anything. #2 Not being naturally social I
rarely go places to talk to people. #3 Not being polite, I tend not to care
who knows #1 and #2.

But I will RIDE any chance I can.

Saturday - Aug 23. flexible
Morning ride
Afternoon - spectate motard
Evening - Drink and feast

Sunday - Aug 24. flexible
Morning ride
Afternoon - spectate motard
Evening - leave about 6pm @ latest
Copper Mountain to Buena Vista - 54 mi
Buena Vista to Gunnison - 83 mi <=== hotel

We'll play it by ear for Saturday and Sunday morning rides. We would
have just finished, or about to start, 800+ miles in 24 hours.
Personally I'd rather go for hike up Copper Mountain. We'll see

Short 100mile rides Troy. And we're taking two days up not one. The return
trip is optimistic but I didn't set up the schedule. Bikes are 954, RC-51,
the Sport touring modded GSXR1000 and me one the Couch-(Sprint).

I'm not a big race spectator, either. Let's do a reasonable ride either
Sat/Sun. Also, do you plan on a day trip (only 120miles to Denver) or what?

  > But I will RIDE any chance I can.

Let's do a moderate length/paced ride. Having never been to Colorado, except
the Denver airport, I'd soon ride a pace that has at least some of my time
gawking at the scenery.

I can split up and reassemble with the other three later. Like I said, John
set up the ride itinerary.

Day ride possible Sunday as well.

No hiking for me. Bad leg and smoker @ 10K feet.

Let me know your plans, Troy.

Actually, let me know YOURS, I've got more flexibility than you. Copper is
about a solid hour from my house. Nice roads are sprinkled in the canyons
down near Denver, not as much scenery as up high, but better roads.
Independance Pass is within striking range of Copper, and scenic. You'll be
hitting a nice pass coming in from Gunnison, high speed sweepers if I recall
correctly. You might consider taking a bit more time down near Durango and
seeing Telluride or Ouray, if I recall correctly there are some nice roads
required to see them. A nice little loop might be over from Copper through
Breckenridge, the roads are not bad, few too many houses and the traffic
picks up once you get to Breckenridge, but its okay. Alot of the roads the
locals use are clustered closer to Denver, in part because the canyons make
for nice twisties, once you are actually in the mountains its more scenic.

Anyway, I'll get the rear tire on, I'll be available from lunchtime Saturday
through late Sunday, and I don't have any problem coming up to meet you if
you want to keep your rides short and in the area of Copper. If you want to
come see Denver, I can show you an interesting road or two heading back into
the mountains.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
