So I bought a 75 ltr parts washer, lovely.
Only, I was thinking to fill it with diesel, as per all the parts
washers I have used.
But this thing has a sticker on the lid saying, amongst other things
(petrol, thinners) diesel is not to be used.
Apparently you have to use a water based detergent.
Does the panel think I would be ok using diesel, or does the water based
detergents work ok (doubt it).
It has got a fusible link on the lid, whereas it slams down in event of
a fire.

There have been very good water based detergents available for a long time.

I can't remember the name of the one we used in Xerox for cleaning the
black sticky goo from the massive photocopiers we used to refurbish. It was
very efficient but had a sickly orange smell.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember wessie <putmynamehere RemoveThis @tesco.net>
saying something like:

A lot of the newish degreasers are citronella based. Very effective too,
for most things.

Poisonally, I just use biodiesel. Smells nice and spills don't matter.

I've got a proper parts washer

.... but I would have thought that Natural Blue would be a good detergent
to use in a water based washer

Not on the first page of google, but RS, CPC etc sell it, about £15 /5
litres
