No, it just has to be taken off the front sprocket AFTER you remove
the countershaft nut. You use the chain to hold the sprocket while
hitting it with a big ass impact wrench. Leave the rear tire on the
ground, too. Once it's loose just slip the sprocket off the
countershaft, the chain off the sprocket, and reassemble in reverse
order. Don't forget to readjust the chain.

You'll have time to get something on there. I used a spring clamp last
time I did it. If you're fast you could probably get away with not
clamping it, but I don't recommend it, just in case.

I did a quick 100 mile, 2.5 hour ride yesterday. My left foot and
right hand went numb more than once. Has to be due to the rigid
mounted CFM rearsets and barely padded gloves and boots. Doesn't help
that my rear ride height is now at maximum.
