I just got my new front sprocket and I was hit by a horrible thought. Do I
have to take the chain off to replace the front sprocket ? Last time I did
it the engine was out and I just slipped it over and the engine was going
back in.

And as for the clutch slave. Is it going to pop apart as soon as it comes
off ? Can I just pull it off and wrap some tape around it ? Hope you know
.... cuz I'm clueless !

Thanx !

No, it just has to be taken off the front sprocket AFTER you remove
the countershaft nut. You use the chain to hold the sprocket while
hitting it with a big ass impact wrench. Leave the rear tire on the
ground, too. Once it's loose just slip the sprocket off the
countershaft, the chain off the sprocket, and reassemble in reverse
order. Don't forget to readjust the chain.

You'll have time to get something on there. I used a spring clamp last
time I did it. If you're fast you could probably get away with not
clamping it, but I don't recommend it, just in case.

I did a quick 100 mile, 2.5 hour ride yesterday. My left foot and
right hand went numb more than once. Has to be due to the rigid
mounted CFM rearsets and barely padded gloves and boots. Doesn't help
that my rear ride height is now at maximum.
