Hi Folks
I am looking for a bike I can use effectively on road and trail (lanes
really). Here's what I need:
Bike will primarily be used in Spain for general road work but also for
occasional tours two-up and luggage. It needs to be capable of dirt track
travel (there's lots of em in Andalusia) though not crosser style or for
jumping etc. Oh, and it needs to be new because I intend to leave it in
Spain for 2 years (so won't need MOT's etc).
The bikes I have in mind are:
BMW F650GS, F650GS Dakar, Yamaha XT660R, Honda Transalp.
I know there's a huge range between these models but the Yamaha is in there
because of its cheapness, though not sure of the ability to take two-up and
tour? The Beemers will likely do it all and hold good value, though the
Dakar seems too tall and the GS seems less geared for off-road. The Transalp
will probably handle anything I can throw at it but its heavy!
Any recommendations would be appreciated. Anyone know of Parallel importers
for the Yamaha and Honda?
Cheers

Thanks Chris - would love the KTM but its just too tall for me. Even cutdown
seat leaves me too high. Fine on my own (love the KTM 450 as a crosser) but
with luggage and a pillion its just too much hassle and stress!
Cheers

Fair comment, I think a around 5' 11" is a minimum height for the 950 to be
really comfortable. It rides very light once you are moving. >> Stay informed about: Opinions on Trail / Road Bikes |

I really don't see it as a two up tourer for any distance. >> Stay informed about: Opinions on Trail / Road Bikes |
