This is an engine I bought at a yamaha auction, with several other parts.
What is it from? I think it had 2400cc on the case.

It's an older Virago 535cc... look for that number on the cylinder
fins... 2400cc translates into 2.5 quarts and signals oil capacity...

Looks like a Virago of who knows what size, that'll be stamped on the
engine somewhere. The 2400cc marking is very likely the oil capacity.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

2400cc is the oil capacity of the crankcase. So I will say a 750cc
Virago engine (total guess, folks!).

What do I win?

2400cc is oil capacity. Engine looks like from one of the older Virago
series. Maybe even an XV920...

The XV920 didn't have downdraft carbs on it. I think it's newer than that.

It does look like a Virago, but it's not a XV920. My 82 holds 3000cc of
oil and the engine doesn't look like the one in the picture. It could be
a more recent 750...

A good Yamaha dealer should be able to identig=fy it exactly from the
engine number.

Why are you buying stuff when you don't know what it is?!

The engine was one of the items that was included of a lot of motorcycle
parts I won at an auction.

If you know the engine number, I'll look in my Clymer / hanes to see if it
is a virago engine.
