That got me to thinking, so I pulled out my "N.A.D.A.
Motorcycle/Snowmobile/ATV/Personal Watercraft Appraisal Guide" from
1997. It shows two 700 Maxims from 1985. There is the XJ700N, with a
list price of $2999, and there is the XJ700XN, with a list price of
$3499. The XN weighs eleven pounds more. Fairing? Luggage holders?
Beats me.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Hmmm... So then there's three different models for that year?
1. Yamaha Maxim XN
2. Yamaha Maxim X
3. Yamaha Maxim N

I'm still wondering which one I have...

I know of only two: the XJ700N, and the XJ700XN. There might be other
models outside the US.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

What is the difference between the XN and the N? I've heard the the '85
yamaha maxim XJ700X has a radiator and a cushioned back rest.

The Maxim X is liquid cooled and a fair bit more powerful than the air
cooled models.
Go here and see if you can find your bike.

Enrique, go to my site, I have a pic of my old 1985 700 MaximX posted
there. Hope that helps. Also, on the rear fender trim is says MaximX.
I also believe it goes by XJ 700X and XJ700XC(california)
Some correct if I am mistaken.
