Nice car but how does an Opel GT coupe disprove the existence
of the Manta, or Monza, or the Vauxhall Florence?

In the same way that the Renault Dauphine proved God does not exist.

Or if he does, he's got a tremendously complicated sense of humor.

The above cars were indeed coupes, and may even have had the word coupe
on their bootlid.

The Opel GT was, however, a *coupe*

(They were actually affordable when I was a teenager, as were series A
Mantas and Kadett coupes. Why therefore did I buy a turquoise MG
Midget?)

Peering closely at the picture it appears to have died in the usual
Dauphine way. I would be surprised if there are more than a handful of
running survivors.

Every time you parked it you had to look VERY carefully to make sure that
the ignition light was not lit. The voltage regulators had a habit of
sticking such that the generator was trying to start the engine.
Combine this with battery leads running right next to plastic fuel pipes
the lenth of the car and it was guaranteed that the car would burn out
about 30 minutes after being parked.
