Road tax is due on the Divvy next week and it's first MOT is needed on
15 June. I've heard that you can't tax a vehicle if the MOT is due
less than a month later. Just bullshit or for real?

It was somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the
drugs began to take hold. I remember Richard A <r.alex.TakeThisOut@blueyonder.co.uk>
saying something like:

You can tax it the day before the MOT runs out - even on the day it runs
out, if you enjoy living dangerously.

Are current UK MOTs timestamped? If so, you could tax it the hour before
the MOT runs out, just for that extra frisson.

I don't think you could, unless you know of a Post Office open at 11PM.

So it's still just to the nearest day, then.

What caught me the other day for the SOC cage, is that the MOT must be
valid on the day that the new tax begins.
In my case, the MOT expired on the 26th May. So when I tried to renew
the tax disc on the 20th May to start June '04, even though the MOT was
still valid at that time, they would not issue a tax disc.
Maybe that's what the other person was referring to.

Neither do I, but the only UK MOT cert I have is a couple of years old;
I was unsure if it'd been changed or not.

And what I told him was that he can get the bike MOT'd before it's
actually due, which means that the time-frame he's in means he's got a
valid MOT, and can tax the bike.
