Indeed. Passed the test on a C90, then got the cheapest 350 I could find.
Looking back, I wanted a 350 - *any* 350 - just to show I wasn't a learner
any more. I should have got an older 250 Dream for the same money. Yes, it
was *that* bad. I wanted to modify and personalise it, but there ain't much
you can do to an Eastern-bloc stroker, so a repaint and ace bars it had to
be. They were backbreaking with the curiously forward-set footrests, so I
ended up putting them on upside down for a kind of chopper vibe. It actually
looked quite funky - or so the young lad who bought it said. In my defence,
I was only 19/20 or so, and utterly without clue.

You said it, son.

Yup.

Yup. Good for the stomach muscles.

Pity we never rode together. We could have joined the circus.

I passed my test on a Jawa too - a 350 (Model 436?) with a sidecar.
Fortunately I saw the tester long before he jumped out for the emergency
stop and had already managed to change down before he leapt out from
behind the bin. Because, with that gearbox, if you were stationary in a
high gear it was a devil of a job to get it back down to 1st again.
My left hand was also recovering from having some bone or other broken
and it didn't take kindly to a lot of clutch work. This was the only
time I've been grateful for the fact that the Jawa gear lever also works
the clutch.

I loved that feature, on my Jawa combo, because you could take off from
the lights while scratching your arse with your left hand.

Wrong way round - 634.

Thanks for reminding me - another reason to hate it!

Would have been fun, though.
