Archived from groups: uk>rec>motorcycles (more info?)

I got a complete but declared scrap 1989 F Regd GPX 250 and a
complete 1989 F Regd GPX 600 on SORN with a complete spare 600cc
engine from a road bike, spare 4 carb set, radiator and some other
bits in the garage. these two bikes have been sored in my garage for
the last four or five years.

I used to use the GPX250 as a commuter bike up until five years ago
when the rubber water pipes failed under the fuel tank. I changed all
the pipes and then the carb float started sticking. I solved that and
the battery needed changing so I changed that then the fork seals
needed redoing so i did that and got another bike.

I bought the GPX 600 with a view to scrapping the GPX250 and putting
its lovely blue and white fairing and neat white hubs on the bigger
bike. When I bought the GPX 600 it had just had the engine rebuilt by
its previous owner and he assured me it was perfect! So taking him at
his word I went and bought another definitely running engine for £150
from someone in Wiltshire who was breaking a GPX600. I bought a spare
set of 4 carbs, radiator and other bits at the same time.

I never got round to swopping the 600cc engines. In fact I went on and
rebuilt a Land Rover and now got a 88" swb with six spotlights,
running boards, etc... but thats another story.

So the bikes have sat in the garage, one declared scrap years ago and
the other on SORN for the last four years.

I got the Manauls for the GPX600 and a CD with a manual on it for the
GPX250.

The tyres and fittings on the bikes all seem to all in very good
condition. No cracking or tyre damage. The 250 seems a bit stiff from
lack of use. These bikes need to go to someone who wants them, someone
who wants to put the GPX600 back on the road.

I'm open to sensible offers or a swop for both bikes and all the spare
GPX bits I got like the spare 600cc engine. I'll have a root around in
the garage and put together all the spare fairing, screens and bits
I've collected over the years.

Ideally I would be happy to swop them for a working quad bike to go
across fields to my beehives - doesn't have to be road legal. Or
anything to do with Sea Fishing, Beekeeping,
Boating......................I'm open to suggestions. Thanks.

Motorbikes. Good fun, aren't they? - Went off to take a picture of a war memorial in Chlemsford this afternoon. As it was a nice day, I took the CBX. It's a bit like a rainy day: twice the fun at half the speed. Not only that, but you get waved at by old duffers on BSAs and the like. ..

an actual chat about motorbikes - I'm in somewhat of a quandry at the moment. As you might know I'm in the market for a new motorbiscuit, as I've fallen out of love, in fact was never in love, with what is left of my fireblade. The power delivery is horrible and the seat very hard. I've...
